The First Harmony

CHAPTER TWO— The First Harmony The threshold was not a place. It was a condition. It gathered around them like a breath held too long — a tension in the air, a pressure behind the bones, a sense that the world itself was waiting to see what they would choose. Eric felt it first. Not as sound. Not as light. But as a memory that wasn’t his. Liam stepped forward, eyes narrowing. “It’s thinner here,” he murmured. “Like the world forgot to finish itself.” The child didn’t answer. He simply listened — not with ears, but with the resonance that lived behind his ribs. The Unshaped hovered at his shoulder, trembling with a fear it didn’t understand. The threshold pulsed. Not outward. Inward. As if folding itself into a smaller and smaller truth. It remembers the First Harmony, the child thought. But it doesn’t remember how to hold it. A soft vibration rippled through the ground — not dangerous, but ancient. A tremor of recognition. A shiver of something waking up after an age of silence. ...

The Seventh Harmony: Chapter one-The Door Opens

Image
The Seventh Harmony CHAPTER ONE The Door Opens The world did not break all at once. It loosened. A soft, almost imperceptible shift — like a breath held too long finally exhaling. Eric felt it before he heard anything, before the light changed, before the air thickened around him. A pressure behind the ribs. A tightening in the spine. A memory rising that wasn’t his. He stood at the edge of the empty lot where Ward 8 had once been, the early morning light stretching long shadows across the soil. The construction equipment sat silent, abandoned for the weekend, but the ground beneath it hummed with a quiet insistence. Not sound. Not vibration. Resonance. The Seventh Harmony was waking. Eric closed his eyes. The warmth beneath his feet pulsed once, then again, like a heartbeat trying to remember its rhythm. The Threshold pressed against him — not from above or below, but from every direction at once, as if the world were folding inward to meet him. “You feel it now,” a voice said b...

The Custodian Dispatch: The Seventh Harmony

Tomorrow, the Journey Begins For years, a story has waited quietly in the background. Not unfinished. Not forgotten. Simply waiting for its moment. Tomorrow, I will publish Chapter One of The Seventh Harmony . Some stories entertain. Some stories ask questions. A rare few invite us to look beyond the surface and consider what may lie beneath the noise of everyday life. This is one of those stories. I've lived with these pages for a long time. Tomorrow, for the first time, they begin their journey into the world. If you've ever wondered whether meaning hides within coincidence, purpose within chaos, or harmony within the dissonance of modern life, this journey may be for you. Join me tomorrow as we take the first step. The Seventh Harmony begins October 21. Until then... Listen carefully. Sometimes the harmony arrives before the music. Not in Miles: An education in understanding

The year was 1965. At precisely 2:47 p.m., Joyce Taylor sat at her desk in the final row of Benson High School's senior classroom, her eyes drifting repeatedly toward the clock hanging above the blackboard. Each tick of the Seth Thomas brass hands carried her one second closer to freedom. The final bell would mark the end of twelve years of school and the beginning of a future she had dreamed about for as long as she could remember. Nursing school awaited her in the fall. Only a month earlier, she had been awarded a full scholarship. The letter remained folded inside her dresser drawer at home, though ...

THE CUSTODIAN DISPATCH A Personal Note Hello, Friends. I don't often write to you outside the stories. Usually, I prefer to let the characters do the talking. Today is different. Over the year, many of you have walked beside me through strange places, impossible questions, forgotten histories, and futures that may or may not be waiting just beyond the horizon. Some of you have been here from the beginning. Others have joined the journey along the way. No matter when you arrived, I'm grateful you came. I've been carrying something for a very long time. A manuscript. A conversation. Perhaps even a question. It's called The Seventh Harmony I completed the story a year ago. Yet every time I considered releasing it, something held me back. Not fear. Not uncertainty. The timing simply never felt right. Lately, however, I find myself looking at the world and sensing that many of us are searching for the same thing. Not answers. Understanding. The noise grows louder every day. ...
